This 2015 Knysna 500 is for sale in South Africa. She been very lightly used and is in beautiful condition. Having come out of the Knysna Yachts boat yard the build quality and attention to detail is precisely what we have come to expect from this bespoke, world leading, cruising catamaran manufacturer.
She is the “Owner’s version” with 3 double cabins with ensuite heads. The port hull is dedicated to the owner with double berth in the stern, vanity table midships and heads and shower forred. The starboard hull has a double ensuite cabins in bow and stern. The saloon has a luxurious U-shaped seating that can accommodate 6 to 8 people around the saloon table which in itself is a work of art. A feature that holds particular appeal to me is the addition of a coffee / food prepping area in close proximity to the very well-appointed galley. A cruising vessel of this nature requires a good bit of cold storage which she has ample of.

The helm station has excellent visibility and is very well equipped with all the electronics one should expect for a true blue water cruiser. These include Sailor satellite communication, EPIRB, Garmin networked Chartplotter, Radar, Wind, Depth, Speed & Autopilot. The power on board comes from a Westerbeke generator, Solar panels, Engine alternators & Shore power. All of this being stored in 2 large Victron Lithium ion batteries. As could be expected, to ensure ones creature comforts, she has a 100Lhr water maker and dual air-conditioners.

The cockpit is sufficiently spacious to have visitors aboard and allows for plenty of space for relaxing and chilling out. The sailing ability of this range of yachts, like her predecessors, is well established. This combined with a reputation for being most capable in open oceans conditions is not to be under estimated. From a sails perspective she has a fully battened main sail running on a BattCar mast slider system, Furling genoa on an electric ProFurl furling system and a Code Zero on a soft luff furling system. I personally could not wish for a better combinations of sails and handling systems particularly so when one takes into account that her primary winches are electric.

For those wanting to take her abroad she is built to the International Marine Certification standard for Recreational Craft Directive 94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC Category A.

All in all, if you are in the market for a top flight blue water cruising catamaran I would urge you to put her on your too view list.
